As usual EFL Championship opens up with a game on Friday. This time the opposing teams are Birmingham City and Swansea.
Birmingham have earned just a single point in their opening 2 games but considering their barely survived their last few seasons it’s not a big surprise. The team lost to Reading in the Carabao Cup and can freely concentrate in the League before the FA Cup rounds come by.
Considering the league the team continued the trend from their preseason to disappoint their fans. A home draw against Norwich saw the team get its only point followed by a minimal loss to Middlesbrough at Riverside. The Blues troubles get even worse as the team will be without Craig Gardner due to suspension.
Swansea are already making their bid for promotion. The team started well and has the ambition to get to the English top flight football as soon as possible. The Swans are playing well so far and deserve some credit.
The 2 victories may only be with 1 goal each but they were against two of the strong sides last season. Both Preston and Sheffield United came a little bit short of reaching the playoffs last season and beating such sides in the opening 2 rounds definitely makes a statement.
